Joe G is No More & I am Smarter than You
Two seemingly unrelated stories emerged on the blogs today. First and most startling, Joe G announced his retirement as a podcaster and a blogger!Stating the rising costs of production (financial and time constraints), the decrease in audience, the commercialization of podcasting, his transition into the profession of psychology (or astro-psycho-physics, or whatever his field), and the phenomenon of pod-fade, he concluded that the time has come to hang up his headphones and iriver. (He does hint that he will not completely fade away himself but will reemerge in another cyber life form)
In LA last June Joe G evangelized podcasting to me trying to get me to board the podcast bandwagon. I told him it took too much time and money. Besides I'd rather ride on the backs of other podcasters having them to do all the hard work while I provide material and talent. (So the question remains, where do I go from here????)
Please visit Joe's latest (final????) post, and leave an endearing or obnoxious message (or both). And download his podcasts while you can; he's pulling the plug on the whole operation very soon!
hat tip to QuakerQuaker (who still has Joe G, formally known as a Quaker, listed as a team member, perhaps in hopes of luring him back to the Light.)
In other news... Now here I thought it was because I was better than most people, turns out it is simply because I am just more intelligent. The Independent reports,
It’s official - vegetarians really are smarter. But it is not because of what they eat. Bright children are more likely to reject meat and opt to become vegetarians when they grow up, a study has shown. Clever veggies are born not made. The article goes on to discuss the intelligence factor leading to health benefits of a meat-free diet.
"Our finding that children with greater intelligence are more likely to report being vegetarian as adults, coupled with the evidence on the potential health benefits of a vegetarian diet, may help to explain why higher IQ in childhood or adolescence is linked with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease in adult life."That info along with the Independent's recent piece about Cow 'emissions' more damaging to planet than CO2 from cars proves that vegans are the smartest of them all. So since soy makes someone gay, AND vegetarians are smarter than meat eaters, no wonder the carnivorous anti-gay Religious Right is always on the defensive.

If cows are the source of the problem, then they need to be eaten.

I wanted to be a vegetarian as a child but I was smart enough to grow up from those kind of thoughts.
Well, as long as you're HUMBLE about your veganism, Peterson... ;-)
I was vegetarian for a few years.
But I love meat and fish.
You know I read the same thing about vegetarians on another blog not to long ago.
I will agree that cows are causing a lot of problems and that we are eating way to much meat. But i kind of wonder if it would make a difference if the herds were fed grass like there supposed to in fields instead of being jammed into stalls and force fed corn (not something ther body is supposed to be digesting). When a cow poops in a field the poop returns to the earth in a year or so. The cow grows slower but the meat they produce is healthier. Commercial farms are stuffing something down there throats there bodies were not intended to digest. They grow faster on a richer diet but they also get sick. Often a cows liver has so many abscesses in it when its slaughtered it isn't usable which is why you don't see many for sale in the grocery store.
Sorry thats just me ranting again. I hate commercial farms. But i recently heard on the news my states government is argueing with states along the Arkansas river because there dumping the manure from there commercial farms into the Arkansas river. Thats nice isn't it! That water feeds Dardanelle lake along with a few others I am sure. No wonder the water is the color shit! Residents and vacationers are swimming in this "shitty water". I swim in mountain lakes now which are fed by rivers that run throughthe mountains and not contaminated by commercial farms. The water in them is clear and a deep blue green. There are people out there using the manure from there heards of cows to create electricity but these commercial farms are dumping it into the rivers. Sorry Peter I didn't mean to rant, this is just s subject that frustrates me a lot!
kj, humility is one of my superpowers.
dragonfly, seems like a worthy rant. commercial farming is dreadful for so many reasons.
I'll never take Joe off the QuakerQuaker homepage. He'll be back. I know he will. He's got to come back, sniff sniff sniff.
It's funny to see both the blogosphere and podcasting evolving to such an extent that we're seeing turnover. I'm used to this on bulletin boards where the average committed user interest seems to be about four months.
